![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() We recently reviewed the Blink Mini indoor camera and the Blink XT2 back when it came out in 2019. From its phenomenal battery life to its live-streaming limits, we’ve got all the details on the good and the bad of this battery-powered camera.įull disclosure, this isn’t our first rodeo with Blink. Since battery-powered cameras are Blink’s forte, our team decided to test out the Blink Outdoor. Replacing the original Blink lineup, the Amazon-owned company now offers a mini indoor camera, newer battery-powered indoor and outdoor cameras, a wireless video doorbell, and a wired floodlight camera. Since then, the two partnered together to continually expand Blink’s home security offerings. Three years later, it had a full suite of indoor cameras, outdoor cameras, and a video doorbell.Īmazon took notice of Blink’s success and acquired the company in late 2017. You’ll be surprised by how big their camera lineup is.īlink started out in 2014 as a startup seeking support from crowdfunding communities to develop a battery-powered indoor camera. For similarly affordable cloud storage, check out Blink’s sister-company Ring in our Ring review.Cloud storage is also available for $3 per month. 1080p HD video, night vision, motion detection, are some of the features of Blink security cameras.Blink’s lineup consists of the Blink Mini ($34.99), Blink Indoor ($79.99), Blink Outdoor ($99.99), and Blink Floodlight Cam ($99.99).Most of the Blink cameras use batteries for power, while the Blink Mini, currently the only plug-in camera from Blink offers 24/7 indoor security packed within a tiny body. The Blink security camera line, flagshipped by the Blink Outdoor, consists of affordable but reliable home security cameras. Narrow field of view: Blink Outdoor’s 110 degree field of view isn’t great normally we like our cameras to have fields of view of at least 120 degrees.Disappointing night vision: The Blink Outdoor only had a single infrared sensor, so rather than seeing the familiar faces of our visiting friends and family, we only saw white glowing blobs.Continue button: The Blink Outdoor camera can only live stream for five minutes at a time before starting a new stream, not to mention that we had to tap a “continue” button every 30 seconds even within that short, five minute timeframe.Solid video performance: We appreciated the Blink Outdoor’s clear, 1080p HD video.Two-year battery life: That’s right, the Blink Outdoor should last for up to an entire two years from two little AA batteries.Two-way audio: With the Blink Outdoor, we could communicate in real-time with delivery personnel or repair workers directly through the camera’s speakers and microphone. ![]()
